Christmas Magic in Budapest
Experience Budapest at its most magical time of the year! Discover the traditions, flavours and festive atmosphere of a Hungarian Christmas while exploring some of the city's most beautiful Christmas locations.
What to expect
We begin our Christmas adventure at the magnificent Great Market Hall, where we discover the flavours and ingredients connected to Hungarian Christmas traditions. You will also learn about the customs and traditions of a Hungarian Christmas, including the colourful szaloncukor that decorates almost every Hungarian Christmas tree. And, of course, there will be some tasting too!
We then continue through the festive streets of Pest, visiting three different Christmas markets, each with its own atmosphere, decorations and selection of Hungarian food and handicrafts. Along the way, we will admire the beautifully decorated Hungarian State Opera House and the spectacular St. Stephen's Basilica, two of Budapest's most atmospheric Christmas locations. We will also discover some of the legendary Christmas stories and memorable festive moments from Budapest’s history.
There will be several opportunities to warm up during the tour. We will also use public transport, including some of Budapest’s most scenic tram and metro lines. Along the way, we will step inside some of the city’s beautiful historic buildings and take a cosy coffee break, where everyone can choose and pay for their own drink or treat.
